“If, in some cataclysm, all of scientific knowledge were to be destroyed, and only once sentence passed on to the next generations of creatures, what statement could contain the most information in the fewest words? I believe it is the atomic hypothesis…that all things are made of atoms—little particles that move around in perpetual motion, attracting each other when they are a little distance apart, but repelling upon being squeezed into one another”

Bifo Berardi "Perhaps the answer is that it is necessary to slow down, finally giving up on economistic fanaticism and collectively rethink the true meaning of the word “wealth.” Wealth does not mean a person who owns a lot, but refers to someone who has enough time to enjoy what nature and human collaboration place within everyone’s reach. If the great majority of people could understand this basic notion, if they could be liberated from the competitive illusion that is impoverishing everyone’s life, the very foundations of capitalism, would start to crumble"

“Imagining the human since the rise of capitalism entangles us with ideas of progress and with the spread of techniques of alienation that turn both humans and other beings into resources. Such techniques have segregated humans and policed identities, obscuring collaborative survival. The concept of the Anthropocene both evokes this bundle of aspirations, which one might call the modern human conceit, and raises the hope that we might muddle beyond it. Can we live inside this regime of the human and still exceed it?”

“We have no need of other worlds. We need mirrors. We don't know what to do with other worlds. A single world, our own, suffices us; but we can't accept it for what it is.” Stanisław Lem, Solaris

Duck and Cover
Remastered in 1080p HD from the Prelinger Archive's print of "Duck and Cover" (Ca. 1951). This film is in the Public Domain, as are all official publications of the USA government. "Duck and Cover" is a Civil Defense film, demonstrating the "Duck and Cover" technique of minimizing harm from a nuclear blast. The techniques have been widely ridiculed, although experts still support them. Some critics believe the film was meant to serve a dual purpose of propagandizing against communism.
